Il colore fa la macchina. Di Continental GT nere o blu scuro o grigio metallizzato è pieno il web, ma trovatene un'altra di questo colore!  L'abbiamo cercata per un cliente, ma alla fine ci piaceva e l'abbiamo acquistata per noi; ecco come è andato l'acquisto di questa Bentley Continental GT del 2004 dal primo ed unico proprietario, un imprenditore di Lecce innamorato a tal punto di questo colore da affiancare alla coupè, anche una Flying Spur dello stesso colore: stiamo parlando del Neptune blue – metallizzato – abbinato agli interni in pelle sabbia (Portland) e blu (Nautic).

Il modello Continental GT vide la luce dal Marzo 2003: era la prima Bentley dell’era moderna, ispirata alla R-Type, diede origine a un segmento di mercato completamente nuovo, quello delle Granturismo di lusso moderne. 

Prodotta il 24 Maggio 2004, la nostra Continental GT era destinata al mercato spagnolo ed era in esposizione presso la concessionaria Bentley di Madrid che aveva eseguito la pre-ispezione l’11 Giugno dello stesso anno: su richiesta specifica da parte del futuro proprietario alla concessionaria Bentley di Roma, fu spedita in Italia ad acquistata dallo stesso il 21 Dicembre 2004.

Spostandosi spesso con l'autista - anche alla luce dei suoi 74 anni al momento dell’acquisto nel 2004 – il proprietario per i lunghi viaggi utilizzava maggiormente la berlina, mentre per spostamenti più vicini, amava guidare la Continental fino a che, per raggiunti limiti di età, l’auto è stata usata sempre meno. Al compimento del ventesimo anno di età (e degli oltre 90 anni del proprietario) l’auto è passata nelle nostre mani ed abbiamo deciso di curarla come questa splendida Gran Turismo merita.

L’elenco degli optional è lunghissimo, per cui ci limitiamo ad elencare i principali:

-       Fari alegeni/xenon con regolazione automatica e lavafari

-       Specchietti ripiegabili, riscaldabili e fotosensibili

-       Vetri a doppio strato con barriera infrarossi

-       Interno tutta pelle, incluso cielo, alette parasole, braccioli

-       Sedili anteriori massaggianti e riscaldabili

-       Foro passante per gli sci

-       Sistema “keyless” con avviamento a pulsante

-       Cruise control 

-       Schermo a colori con navigatore satellitare e TV

-       Sensori parcheggio anteriori e posteriori

-       Tergicristalli con sensore pioggia

-       Telefono di bordo con cornetta privacy

-       Volante e sedili regolabili con memoria

-       Sospensioni regolabili in altezza con sistema di assorbimento elettronico

-       Cerchi da 19” a 5 razze

Il primo proprietario ha svolto la manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria fino ai 90.000km presso la rete ufficiale per poi tagliandarla fino al chilometraggio attuale secondo le scadenze previste per i successivi 30.000km presso un'officina Audi di Lecce, di cui sono presenti tutte le fatture. Al momento dell’acquisto da parte nostra sono stati svolti i seguenti interventi eseguiti presso l’officina Bentley Romeo Ferraris di Milano. Tra i principali lavori eseguiti: stacco e riattacco motore e cambio per revisione completa del cambio, revisione delle turbine con wastegate, revisione dell’alternatore, revisione del compressore clima e delle relative tubazioni, revisione assistente di parcheggio, sostituzione supporti motore e cambio, sostituzione motore alzavetro posteriore, controllo e sostituzione componenti impianto di raffreddamento, tagliando cinghie servizi e oli, diagnosi completa per eliminazione delle spie. Totale degli interventi svolti oltre 22.000 Euro. Tutto questo per consegnare al prossimo proprietario un’auto in ordine che per qualche tempo non avrà bisogno di eseguire lavori di manutenzione straordinaria, quasi sempre necessari in quelle Continental GT in vendita a prezzi “di saldo”; sono auto che richiedono una manutenzione quanto più completa e assidua possibile quindi la tracciabilità degli interventi e la storia completa dei lavori eseguiti è fondamentale.  

L'interno è ben conservato, anche grazie all'ottima qualità dei materiali e la carrozzeria si presenta in ottimo stato essendo stata parzialmente rinfrescata. 

L’esperienza alla guida della Continental GT è estremamente piacevole: sa andare piano quando serve, godendosi il timbro roco del motore W12 mentre ci si fa massaggiare dai sedili elettrici, così come sa sprigionare i suoi 552 cavalli in una tortuosa strada di montagna – nascondendo il suo peso non proprio “piuma” – o ancora meglio in un’autostrada tedesca dove la si può lanciare oltre i 300km in assoluta tranquillità e sicurezza, come solo le Gran Turismo DOC sanno fare.

Si tratta del primo progetto post acquisizione da parte del gruppo Volkswagen per la casa inglese che nel 2004 presentò una vera Gran Turismo dalla linea chiaramente ispirata alle coupè italiane degli anni '50, prima fra tutte le Lancia Aurelia B20. A spingere la maestosa due porte, il fiore all'occhiello per l'epoca della tecnologia Volkswagen, ovvero il motore W12 da 6 litri in grado di erogare 552 cavalli, messi a terra egregiamente dalla trasmissione Tiptronic a 6 rapporti e dalla trazione integrale. Fu un successo, come hanno confermato i dati di vendita della Continental GT che ha recentementecompiuto vent’anni ed inizia la sua nuova vita come vettura storica, di sicuro interesse futuro, specialmente con questa combinazione cromatica molto particolare. 

Tecnologia ed eleganza è ciò che trasmette la Continental GT, prima guardandola e poi guidandola. L'abitacolo interamente in pelle color sabbia e blu è un salotto: permette di macinare chilometri senza fatica, mentre il motore spinge senza esitazioni. Trazione integrale e sospensioni elettroniche permettono di guidare divertendosi ma sempre in sicurezza, potendo godere di un suono unico regalato dai 12 cilindri posizionati nell’inimitabile schema a W.

Vettura già iscritta ASI per cui paga l'assicurazione da auto storica ed il bollo ridotto.

 Colours make cars. The web is full of black, silver or dark blue Continental GT, but there is no one in Neptune blue; we looked for it for a client, but in the end we liked it and bought it for ourselves! Here's how the purchase of this 2004 Bentley Continental GT went from its first and only owner, an entrepreneur from Lecce who was so enamored with this color that he also purchased a Flying Spur in the same color alongside the coupe: Neptune Blue – metallic – paired with sand (Portland) and blue (Nautic) leather interior.

The Continental GT model saw the light of day in March 2003: it was the first Bentley of the modern era, inspired by the R-Type, and it gave rise to a completely new market segment: that of modern luxury grand tourers.

Produced on May 24, 2004, our Continental GT was built for the Spanish market and was on display at the Bentley dealership in Madrid, which had performed a pre-inspection on June 11 of the same year. At the specific request of the future owner, the car was shipped to Italy and purchased by the owner on December 21, 2004.

Because he often traveled with a chauffeur—particularly considering his 74 years at the time of purchase in 2004—the owner preferred the sedan for long trips, while for shorter trips, he preferred the Continental until, due to its age, it was used less and less. Upon its twentieth birthday (and the owner's over 90th birthday), the car passed into our hands, and we decided to treat it as this splendid Grand Tourer deserves.

The list of options is very long, so we'll limit ourselves to listing the main ones:

- Halogen/xenon headlights with automatic adjustment and headlight washers

- Folding, heated, and photosensitive mirrors

- Double-glazed windows with infrared barrier

- Full leather interior, including headliner, sun visors, and armrests

- Heated and massaging front seats

- Ski pass-through hole

- Keyless entry with push-button start

- Cruise control

- Color screen with satellite navigation and TV

- Front and rear parking sensors

- Rain-sensing windshield wipers

- On-board telephone with privacy handset

- Adjustable steering wheel and seats with memory

- Height-adjustable suspension with electronic damping system

- 19" 5-spoke wheels

The first owner performed routine and extraordinary maintenance up to 90,000 km at the official dealership and then serviced it up to the current mileage according to the scheduled intervals for the next 30,000 km. At an Audi workshop in Lecce, for which all invoices are available. At the time of purchase, the following work was performed at the Bentley Romeo Ferraris workshop in Milan. Among the main works performed: removal and reassembly of the engine and transmission for a complete overhaul of the transmission, overhaul of the wastegate turbines, overhaul of the alternator, overhaul of the air conditioning compressor and related pipes, overhaul of the parking assistant, replacement of the engine and transmission mounts, replacement of the rear window motor, inspection and replacement of the cooling system components, service belts and oils, and a complete diagnostic to eliminate the warning lights. The total work performed amounted to over €22,000. All this to hand over to the next owner a car in good condition that will not require extraordinary maintenance for some time, which is almost always necessary for those Continental GTs on sale at "sale" prices. These cars require the most complete and regular maintenance possible, so traceability of the work and a complete history of the work performed is essential.

The interior is well preserved, thanks in part to the excellent quality of the materials, and the bodywork is in excellent condition. Excellent condition, having been partially refreshed.

Driving the Continental GT is an extremely enjoyable experience: it can go slowly when needed, enjoying the raspy sound of the W12 engine while being massaged by the electric seats. It can also unleash its 552 horsepower on a winding mountain road—hiding its not exactly featherweight weight—or, even better, on a German autobahn, where it can be driven for over 300 km with complete peace of mind and safety, as only a genuine Gran Turismo can.

This is the first project since its acquisition by the Volkswagen Group for the British manufacturer, which in 2004 presented a true Grand Tourer with a design clearly inspired by the Italian coupes of the 1950s, first and foremost the Lancia Aurelia B20. Powering the majestic two-door model was the flagship of Volkswagen technology at the time: a 6.0-liter W12 engine capable of delivering 552 horsepower, efficiently harnessed by the 6-speed Tiptronic transmission and all-wheel drive. It was a success, as confirmed by the sales figures for the Continental GT, which recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary and is beginning its new life as a historic vehicle, sure to be of interest for the future, especially with this very distinctive color combination.

The Continental GT exudes technology and elegance, first by looking at it and then by driving it. The all-leather, sand-colored and blue interior is a living room: it allows you to rack up the miles effortlessly, while the engine pushes forward without hesitation. All-wheel drive and electronic suspension make for a fun yet safe drive, while enjoying the unique sound provided by the 12-cylinder engines arranged in the inimitable W-design.

It comes with all the onboard equipment, a service book, and an owner's manual.

The vehicle is already registered with ASI, which means it pays classic car insurance and reduced road tax.
