(English text below)

The Fiat Panda is one of the coolest italian citycar among the Yountimers, with that special touch of the 4 wheel drive. And the 1985 “Nuova Fiat Panda 4x4 Edizione Limitata” represents the connection between the first serie produced since 1983 and the “Supernova” introduced few months later: this limited edition, produced in 5000 samples still has the original shape designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro as for the interior with the special seats that you can recline to make a bed, the rear bench that could become a crib and the large pouch under the dashboard.

The main differences of this “limited edition” are many details that let you understand it is something pretty rare: for example the white wheels with a new shape, then used on the restyling, the White Corfù paint, the additional headlights, the vinyl roof with special roof-rack, the rear hood painted in black. A white, red and black stripe stiker runs all around the sides of the car to distinguishes the special edition at first sight. Taking a look at the interior we can find the special red seat belts, the black vinyl side panels with a red stripe and, on request, you could ask for the special red dotted cloth.

This Panda mounted the reliable 965 cmc 4 cylinders with 48 hp: it was enough to let the Panda move easily everywhere thanks to its weight, less than 800 kgs: still nowadays the Panda is so easy to drive in the traffic of our cities. The commercial said: “With the Panda 4x4 the fun starts where all the others have to stop”; it is true, thanks to the M+S Pirelli Winter tyres mounted on 4,5” wheels the Panda can climb almost everywhere. Just few barriers can stop this tiny car…the worst are the deepest grooves where the ground clearance of the Panda isn’t high enough.

The sample we have for sale, in the launch colour “Corfù white” was sold at the end of 1985 and registered in Sondrio in 1986 by the first owner who had the car until 2016; few months later we bought the car and started a total restoration: the cloth used for the interior wasn’t suitable for automotive purpose and were destroyed (as many other samples like this) so they were refurbished with an improved and very similar material. Where it was possible, we tried to restore and preserve the existing parts , because some are really hard to find. Even if the body was preserved by the family who owned the car, it had some rust so we had opted for new panels; underneath the body presented in better conditions  and we just resprayed and  coated, keeping it original as much as possible. The body has been fully resprayed and the roof was covered with black vinyl, as the original, and sticked the new side stripes.

The engine – with just 56.000kms – has been verified and serviced, many parts were changed, the carburetor was overhauled, then we put a new exhaust, a new radiator, brackets and so on…Gearbox and steering rack were opened and overhauled as we did with the rear differential. To conclude, we put new tyres, shock absorbers, front and rear brakes.

Photos and invoices of the restoration, comes with the car, available by appointment in Bologna.
