 La prima, la mamma di una stirpe di successo. Con i suoi pregi (tanti) e difetti (qualche vizio di gioventù), la 911 del 1965 incarna il vero DNA che Porsche porta avanti da 60 anni sul suo modello di punta. E’ una vera Gran turismo, una sportiva adatta per l’uso quotidiano, con la quale nel fine settimana si poteva andare a correre. Dal teatro alla pista, come recitava la pubblicità.

Questo esemplare è uscito dalla catena di montaggio ad Aprile 1965, prodotto per il mercato italiano, nella configurazione attuale, grigio delfino con interni verdi, combinazione rara e molto elegante. Unico optional il riscaldamento supplementare Webasto. 

Purtroppo, all'epoca del restauro il materiale per rifare gli interni verdi non era disponibile (ora sì), quindi si optò per il nero con pied-de-poule.

I 6 cilindri del motore erogano 130 cavalli che sono più che sufficienti per regalare inattese soddisfazioni sia nella guida sportiva che nei trasferimenti autostradali: con i suoi tipici carburatori Solex risulta brillante. Anche il cambio 901, tipicamente con la prima in basso, è stato aperto e revisionato integralmente. L’assetto, montato sui cerchi da 4,5 pollici, rendono questa 911 fra le più divertenti e vivaci nella guida su tratti misti: è una 911 dalla quale non si avrebbe mai voglia di scendere! 

Chi scrive ne ha avuta un per lungo tempo, utilizzata quasi come “daily driver” con piacevoli soddisfazioni.

Una delle principali peculiarità della 911 2000 del 1965 sono gli interni: gli strumenti verdi, il volante in legno combinato con il cruscotto caratterizzano i primi due anni di produzione, in combinazione con i sedili confortevoli rifiniti in skai e tessuto – per viaggiare meglio anche in estate - e la moquette velour a completamento di un abitacolo familiare per gli appassionati del modello, ma con note decisamente rare e speciali.

 The first, the mother of a successful lineage. With its many strengths and weaknesses (a few youthful vices), the 1965 911 embodies the true DNA that Porsche has carried forward for 60 years in its flagship model. It is a true Grand Tourer, a sports car suitable for everyday use, which could be driven on weekends. From the theater to the track, as the advertising proclaimed.

This model rolled off the assembly line in April 1965, produced for the Italian market, in its current configuration: dolphin gray with green interior, a rare and very elegant combination. The only optional extra was the Webasto auxiliary heating.

Unfortunately, at the time of the restoration, the material to redo the green interior was not available (now it is), so the choice fell on black with houndstooth.

The six-cylinder engine delivers 130 horsepower, more than enough to provide unexpected satisfaction both in sporty driving and on highway journeys: with its typical Solex carburetors, it is brilliant. The 901 transmission, typically with first gear at the bottom, has also been opened up and completely overhauled. The suspension, mounted on 4.5-inch wheels, makes this 911 one of the most fun and lively cars for driving on mixed terrain: it's a 911 you'll never want to get out of!

This writer has owned one for a long time, using it almost as a "daily driver" with pleasant satisfaction.

One of the key features of the 1965 911 2000 is its interior: the green instruments and the matching wooden steering wheel and dashboard characterize the first two years of production, combined with the comfortable seats finished in vinyl and fabric—for a comfortable ride even in summer—and the velour carpeting, completing a cabin familiar to enthusiasts of the model, yet with decidedly rare and special touches.
