Tanto rara quanto affascinante.

Visibile, previo appuntamento, a Bologna.

As rare as fascinating. The car we are proposing is an Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC, produced on 25 January 1965 and delivered on 28 April of the same year in Turin in the hawthorn combination with black soft top and red leatherette interior. In 1968 the car passed to the second owner who kept it for over 40 years, before giving it to an enthusiast who undertook a preservative restoration, completed by the current owner starting in 2014.

The use of the car was limited to the first 25 years, so much so that the car was canceled due to non-payment of taxes in the early 90s. Always stored in a closed garage, in southern Italy in a dry environment, the bodywork has been kept in excellent condition, with only one respray a few years ago; the interior, on the other hand, poorly restored by the previous owner, has been completely redone according to the original specifications with correct materials by one of the leading Alfa Romeo specialists. Engine, transmission, chassis and suspension have been the subject of a complete overhaul by the current owner who uses the car regularly, for short journeys in order to keep everything in perfect running order. It is believed that the 147,000 kilometers shown on the instrument are original since new: since the engine was rebuilt, the car has traveled less than 9,000 kilometers.

Equipped with all the various books, booklets, workshop manuals and newspaper articles, this car is certainly one of the highest quality Giulia GTCs currently on the market: with a beautiful patina and equipped with the vintage steering lock, tool bag, jack, document pouch, period booklet and black number plates from 1968, it is ideal car for an Alfa Romeo collector who wants to enjoy one of the rarest Giulia, just turning the key and enjoying the brilliant twin-cam 1600 Alfa Romeo engine.

The “matching number” 105 HPs engine supported by the 5-speed gearbox make the GTC a pleasant car in everyday driving but also in twisty roads where the sporty temperament emerges, combined with the reduced weight of this spider: the famous front step designed by Giugiaro meets elegance of Touring solutions, by “cutting” the famous Biscione coupé, without forgetting the pleasure of driving.

The Giulia GTC was produced in about 610 units, half of which destined for the American market and about fifty with right-hand drive for the English market; the remaining 250 or so cars were sold in Europe with good commercial success, which however did not serve to carry on the collaboration between Alfa Romeo and the Carrozzeria Touring, which designed and produced this model; disagreements between the top management of the two companies forced them to break a relationship that lasted over thirty years.

The construction quality of the Touring convertible is high, thanks to a reinforced body to compensate for the lack of a rigid roof, a rear trunk with greater opening, front and rear bumpers in chromed iron with a single blade, specific GTC shield, as well as some details of the passenger compartment. The soft top, rebuilt in original “manoseta" material, allows to travel comfortably with the rear window and the windows completely lowered while keeping the top closed to avoid sun light during the hottest hours. When, on the other hand, you prefer to travel with open top, the roof disappears in the specific compartment and is hidden by its cover.

RIAR registered car (Registro Italiano Alfa Romeo), complete with green booklet with pages, original number plates, manuals, brochures, tool bag and overmats to be used during workshop work. Supplied with a second front hood, a choice of a front bumper with or without fog lights, the original windshield, a pair of rear lights and a second pair of Weber carburetors. Unlike the photographs, the car will be sold with the original standard steering wheel.

Visible, by appointment, in Bologna.
